Exploring Rebellion and Heritage: JORDANLUCA's Impactful Runway at Milan Fashion Week

Amidst the stellar shows of Milan Mens Fashion Week, a singular brand dared to stand out. JordanLuca, the rising cult label, known for its bold, unconventional style brought London punk streetwear to Milan. Christina Dymioti captured the electric energy from the front row.

by Christina Dymioti

Founded in 2019, JordanLuca is a couture streetwear label which seamlessly blends the English and Italian heritage of its founders Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto. It is noteworthy that Mr. Pan Phillipou, the co-founder and Chairman of the brand, previously served as the CEO of Diesel and Ben Sherman. He has a background of Cypriot and Irish descent.

Heritage tweeds were reborn with punkish spikes as JORDANLUCA's Fall/Winter 2024 collection expertly wove rebellious details into timeless tailoring. Walking into the JordanLuca runway, silver balloons, like bloated dreams, hung from every seat, and the runway was a buoyant ocean of 1,500 more. These unique balloons were designed by artist Dominic Myatt.

The clothes themselves were Punk-inspired in subversive classics. The show kicked off with tailored overcoats worn with face-hugging headwear and straight-fitting trousers, which lapped leather angular boots. Later, the same headwear was contrasted with grey suiting, where a fastened jacket covered a shirt and the renowned JordanLuca tie.

Dark eyeliner offered contrast, injecting a club-ready sensibility into an otherwise pared-back look. In fact, there was a surprise runway appearance by Andreas Kronthaler, the Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood who is also a close friend of Marchetto. Andreas graced the runway in a head-to-toe black look, a stark contrast to the buoyant balloons.

We saw leather used to craft structured jackets, with mohawk hair styling, and chunky silver jewellery, injecting a counter-cultural edge into the look. As the show continued the party theme was seen in white blouses and dresses, finished with multicoloured polka dots. The women's pieces were particularly striking, riffing on ladylike codes with fierce and sensual numbers like the standout red leather minidress and the bias-cut frock that wrapped endlessly around the body.

In essence, JordanLuca's Milan Fashion Week show transcended the ordinary, creating a dynamic narrative where balloons, Brutalist blazers, and a bittersweet hope converged. This singular brand, daring to be different, not only showcased rebellious details but also became a testament to the electric energy, leaving an indelible mark on the canvas of Milan Mens Fashion Week.

However, the party didn’t end there; it escalated into an epic rave. Collaborating with Berlin techno powerhouses 𝕳𝖊𝖗𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖘𝖆𝖚𝖓𝖆, they organized a massive party within a series of abandoned warehouse arches on the city's outskirts.

The Style Album of Manu Rios

He has been our forever crush since day 01.

We first met him in the Netflix series ELITE but he managed to be the favourite fashion boy of the biggest Fashion Houses.

Manu Rios knows how to serve the hottest looks and his Instagram account is always on fire.

That is only of the reasons we went back to Manu’s Instagram and we chose some of our favourite looks he did during fashion weeks.

A lot of Prada, Valentino, ETRO and more, are only some of the Fashion Houses styled and combined in the style album below:

Big applause to his stylist and grooming team as well for looking after him so well.

LGBT British Awards: Melanie C wins Celebrity Ally Award

Melanie C triumphed on Friday night as she led the celebrity winner at the British LGBT Awards at The Brewery in London.

Hosted by TV presenter Gok Wan, 46, and Ru Paul's Drag Race UK winner, Lawrence Chaney, 24, the event celebrated leading LGBT+ activists, allies and celebrity figures who have worked to advance the rights of LGBT+ people during the past 12 months.

Our very own Spice Girl won the Celebrity Ally award. Having worked closely with drag collective Sink the Pink, the singer has been vocal about what a privilege it is to spend time in queer, trans and non-binary spaces.

The pop icon beat off competition from the likes of Michelle Visage, 52, and popular host Dermot O'Leary, 48, to take home the trophy.

**The LGBT community proved their love to her last year by taking her latest album ‘Melanie C ‘at number eight on the UK Albums Chart on its first day of release ( the album has been released from her own independent Record label Red Girl Media).

WE LOVE the Alan Crocetti x Jean Paul Gaultier collaboration

Jean Paul Gaultier invited five renowned designers to reinterpret the brand’s most iconic designs for Spring/Summer 2021 collection titled “Les Marins”.

One of the designers is Alan Crocetti, who was in charge to create beautiful accessories that expressed the essence of the Sailor and Gaultier’s universe.

The campaign features models Nacho Penin and Luis wearing the beautiful and jaw-dropping pieces, shot by Gorka Postigo and styled by Nono Vázquez.

Men's XXL trousers: The ultimate pants trend of 2021 as worn by Richard Biedul

Spring has just arrived and we noted down the ultimate pants trend for the season.

From Armani to Dries Van Noten SS21 shows, it’s obvious that the men’s trousers silhouette has changed. The new tailoring proposes super wide trousers and XXL form.

The new, chic version of trousers offers more comfort and freedom and you can find them on tailoring, denim or even linen stories.

Checking out the Spring-Summer 2021 shows ( even the latest AW21-22 as well), you will see that the XXL pants trend came back to stay and Richard Biedul is definitely the ideal one to show you more.

Male model and influencer Richard Biedul is one of the most recognisable faces in men's fashion and one of our favourites here at REY Magazine. He has worn the trend a few seasons ago and he was from the very first celebrities to inspire us with his ‘XXL pants’ style.

Check some of his signature looks below to get inspired for your outfits.

Do it like Richard:

  • Pair your XXL pants with a classic blazer and a pair of moccasins.

  • Prefer to combine monochrome or more neutral colours for stronger outfits.

  • If you choose denim, tuck-in your T-shirt for more 70s inspired look.

Editor's Picks: Our favourite Gucci x The North Face men's pieces

The collaboration that everyone talks about is definitely the new collection of Gucci with The North Face.

The Italian house under the leadership of Alessandro Michele and the outerwear giant have worked together to deliver a collection for men and women full of daring, whose spearhead is none other than freedom, a concept dear to the Roman creator, and exploration.

Tamta releases her new videoclip YALA with Stephane Legar

It isn’t summer, unless we have a summer dance hit from Eurovision pop star TAMTA.

After the release of her new EP ‘‘Awake’’, earlier today she gave her new videoclip for the sinle YALA. That’s her latest collaboration with Israeli singer ‘Stephane Legar‘ and the videoclip is just so… addictive!!

Tamta on her best with a super- hot choreogrraphy climbed on our No1 for this summer. We also loved the guest appearance of drag queen Julia Gliter as well.

WE LOVE: Brooklyn Beckham's Style Moments

It seems that Brooklyn Beckham inherited Victorias's sense of style as he always creates statement looks and combinations.

We don’t know if the looks are his personal choices or he works along with a personal stylist, but we have to admit that he have already created his own fashion moments in his public appearances.

Check out some of our favourite looks of him that last 2 years and be inspired for your next style combination and outfits:

Our Strange Obsession with Joe Exotic and how to get the TIGER KING Look (Copy)

If you haven’t seen Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, you definitely have to add it in your quarantine Netflix agenda; and believe me you will finish it by this weekend. ( 7 episodes documentary - limited series)

The true-crime docuseries plays a serious logic game with you as it unveils all the crazy adventures of Joe Exotic and his antagonists ( Including mysterious murders, drugs, illegal animal sales and more). Watching it you might have a small cultural shock (at the beggining at least) but while watching the episodes it becomes addictive and you finally become strangely obsessed with the characters and their personal style.

Our favourite style persona is definetely The Tiger King - Joe Exotic. Mr Joe delivers a very unique kitch style which becames ‘‘cult’’ and trendy in its own way.

Vogue’s editors note: ….Filled with animal prints (natch), sequins, and tie-dye, his look is cowboy drag filtered through a lens of bad taste and shrooms. The result is horrible, hypnotic, and shockingly on-trend!

Well, I have to warn you though… living our most difficult period at home and watching ‘Docuseries’ TIGER KING can be a dangerous combination… Don’t be surprised if we come out of this lockdown with mullets, DIY piercings, and home tattoos.

If you finally fall in love with his crazy and ‘in-style’ look check out your wardrobes and I am sure you will find some statement pieces to create your summer look.

Otherwise get inspired from our TIGER KING list below:

What to watch on Netflix if you are in self-quarantine

We all have to pass from this very difficult period in order to fight Corona virus. The world is fighting, Europe is fighting, Italy is fighting…. We ALL have to follow our goverment’s instructions and stay at home.

At this difficult time we need to follow the self-quarantine rules and stay calm. REY team will make sure that you ‘ll have enough interesting features to check during the week, and here’s our first Netflix list on WHAT TO WATCH these days:

ELITE

“Élite,” which returned for its third season, is set at Las Encinas, an exclusive private school with a killer uniform and, as we learn in the first episode, an actual killer. The victim is Marina (María Pedraza), a young redhead who’d always felt out of place among her moneyed and privileged friends. A series of police interviews with her classmates (and suspects) structures the series’ first season, slowly piecing together the events that led to Marina’s bloody murder by the school’s pool.

I AM JONAS

An understated French Drama about a Gay Man’s Troubled Life divided in different timelines. The story revolves around our aforementioned protagonist, Jonas. The first timeline sees him in school, struggling to fit in and isolated from the other students. When new kid Nathan arrives, he takes Jonas under his wing and on a whirlwind trip that changes his life forever. The second timeline takes place with Jonas as a troubled 33 year old, haunted by the ghosts of the past following a traumatic experience that’s shaken him to his foundations in the earlier timeline. The truth of this reveals itself in devastating fashion during the third act but up until that point, much of the film splits between these two timelines, harmoniously bouncing off and complementing one another as more character is revealed in a clever and natural way.

NEXT IN FASHION

Glossy, chirpy and colorful, Netflix’s “Next in Fashion” — debuted on Jan. 29 — is one of two new entrants to the televised fashion design competition arena this year. The 10-episode series, hosted by “Queer Eye’s” Tan France and presenter and designer Alexa Chung, also marks Netflix’s first venture into a category that for years has been dominated by “Project Runway.”

TOY BOY

Netflix’s latest Spanish-language sensation follows a stripper out for revenge against the extremely wealthy socialite that may’ve framed him. And while he’s out solving a mystery, his hunky pals get their groove back as a squad of moneymaking strippers. It’s very interesting to note that TOY BOY wasn’t so successful in Spain, even though it was No1 on Greek and Italian Netflix after its official release.

VAMPIRES

If Netflix’s “Dracula” miniseries gave you the taste for blood, get ready for a new French series that focuses on an entire family of “Vampires”. The streamer has quietly set the French coming-of-age drama for release on March 20th.

I AM NOT OK WITH THIS

Fans of Stranger Things will love this new Netflix series is from the same producers. Jonathan Entwistle and Christy Hall, who also produced The End of the F****** World, co-created the new show together.

Netflix says: “I Am Not Okay With This is an irreverent origin story that follows a teenage girl who’s navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her.” The quirky series is actually based on the Charles Forsman graphic novel.

Conchita WURST reintroduces himself with the new single ''HIT ME''

He introduced himself as Conchita Wurst through Eurovision and he managed to won the competition in 2014. The media wrote ‘‘A glamorous drag queen stole Eurofans’ hearts as she rised like a phoenix on the stage of Eurovision. The win belongs to her’’.

Five years later, Conchita WURST is back and we love every little detail of the new WURST and his music project.

“Hit me with the bullets you make up in your head,” sings Electro-newcomer WURST on his latest song that is released today and will make all heads and legs move. The official video provides unprecedented insights into the artist’s private life.

WURST sings his way directly into memory banks with his Electro-Dance earworm “Hit Me”. At first glance, this dance track seems to be light-hearted and carefree, but its lyrics are an ice-cold reckoning with the past. Even though there are guns and projectiles pointing at him in these lyrics, the artist is convinced that no threat can harm him and his determination makes him invincible.

The brand-new, dynamic song is the second single off Tom Neuwirth’s third album, who will impersonate the two characters Conchita and WURST from now on. Early on in his career as the feminine Conchita, he already sang about being “unbreakable” and “unstoppable”. As his new stage character WURST, who is significantly edgier and more unkempt, he talks about his convictions as unambiguously and unflinchingly as never before in “Hit Me.”

He clearly states how he intends to handle his opponents with lyrics like “You don’t get to point the gun and you don’t get to force my hand, cause I don’t get to mend the matters, I don’t get to fight back.”

In the official music video for “Hit Me”, which once again does not use any special effects, we see WURST as masculine as never before: the radiant stage character and the private person are both equally captivating. Dance performances like in “Trash All The Glam” already hinted at the artist’s body control, and last summer we already got a first taste of his platinum-blond look.

Following “Trash All The Glam”, “Hit Me” is the second release off Tom Neuwirth’s latest project WURST. After his debut album “Conchita”, which was released in 2015, and his second album “From Vienna With Love” with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, which was released in October last year and also reached gold status, the singles of his third album project WURST now just keep on coming. The electronic soundscapes, which were produced by Albin Janoska and written by Eva Klampfer (“Lylit”), are far more personal for Tom Neuwirth than the songs of his previous repertoire.

MUST watch: Netflix's Halloween promo video starring Antoni Porowski

Spooky season just got a lot spookier . . . and more sexy.!

On Monday, Netflix dropped a teaser for its sinister new anthology of horror shorts titled “Don't Watch This”, and it features the lovable chef from the streaming service's popular show Queer Eye. That's right, Antoni Porowski — known for pleasantly helping people improve their cooking skills — just showed us a side of him that might make us rethink going to one of his dinner parties (if we're ever cool enough to get invited).

In the clip for the episode called "Antoni Psycho," Porowski is clearly channelling his inner Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. He dons a Greek yoghurt face mask while doing a few yoga stretches in nothing but his Calvin Klein underwear (which isn't a bad start, honestly — LOOK at those abs). Totally normal, right? Well, things take a scary turn as Porowski wipes a knife clean as he eerily declares, "I don't care whether they like what I cook or not. They'll eat it if they know what's good for them." Ummm, what?! Who is the "they" that he's talking about? What happened to our smiley Antoni who just wants to help people make a nice dish of roasted potatoes? Antoni, are you OK? What did Netflix DO to you? As scary as this seems, it looks like we're going to have to give this a watch, because clearly Porowski has a bit of a dark side.
