HARD.CLO SS19: The Collection

1961-1969

A continuing battle between the two biggest powers, Russia and America. Who will be able to conquer space first?

Yuri Gagarin, the first person who traveled in space orbiting the moon.

Neil Armstrong, the first man who walked on the moon.

The two faces forming the centerpiece of the Hard SS19 summer collection. Space may be unknown to us but has a story to tell, a story that has many ways to be told ...

Histories are written but we can write them again. The words - phrases depicted in the collection - tell their own story in a different - hard - way.

Hard.clo presents the new collection SS.19: "Houston we have a problem" describing this constant competition and putting the two protagonists in the focus.

Be a Storyteller

Hard.clo is an international brand of clothing and accessories based in Athens. The basic idea is to imprint a new language and maybe a new world. Using the Cyrillic alphabet to create bold statement. Each collection has limited circulation and its own Hard word printed on it.

Burberry Resort 2019

Words by Stephen George

Last Friday 11/5, Burberry sent social media into pandemonium with a collection of images from their Resort 2019 collection on their Instagram stories and feed.

burberry-pre-spring-2019 2.jpg

The images are a first look at the brand through the eyes of its new chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci who took up the position in March replacing Christopher Bailey after 17 years.

The collection entitled – B Classic is a series of eight images that showcases and highlights the history of the brand. On his arrival at the house Tisci “wanted to celebrate the beauty, heritage and legacy that I discovered.” In doing this Tisci curated and styled the looks that were designed by the in-house team. This translated into a collection that is outerwear heavy and touches on Burberry iconography. The trench coat, the Harrington jacket, the car coat and cape in military green, brown and Horse ferry check came styled as his-and-hers outfits each couple photographed in loving embrace.

No new ground or trends are trends are being set here this is a collection made to keep Burberry in fashion conversation until Tisci’s official debut collection for the brand on Monday 17th September at 5pm. It does round off a 17-year era that Bailey championed Burberry and put the brand on the international fashion stage. This is a collection that nails the idea of fashion fluidity, the duality of clothes and gender flexibility of the dressing. It encapsulates the same spirit and joy Bailey showcased in his last show in February where he celebrated the LGBT+ community.

This gives us no indication of what Tisci has planned come September which makes the anticipation even more worth waiting for.

Thom Browne Fall 2018: a statement show to remember

Androgynous looks and grey flannel for women; pants down, heels and puppy heads for men.

A runway which looked like an art studio and “Lady painters painting portraits of ladies, in grey flannel.”  Models styled with androgynous outfits and with hair inspired from 18th century French aristocracy strolled along the runway, taking up positions for the painters while Madonna's 'Vogue' was the main soundtrack of the show.

For the second and main part of the show, models walked wearing deconstructed outfits, all in the 'fifty shades of grey' flannel Some remind us men's office clothes, some others school uniform and the hero pieces are definitely statements inspired by the same century.

Half dresses combined with others, skirts as tops and the opposite were some of the highlights.

And as a conclusion the most powerful statement of all: male models wearing grey dog head masks and heels walked out, all harnessed, followed by Grace Bol, the South Sundanese model holding their leashes and wearing a ball gown.

Off-White collaborates with Byredo to create your new favourite perfume

Elevator Music is the new fragrance collaboration from Off White x Byredo, first revealed on colette founder Sarah Andelman’s Instagram.

If the stripes on the bottle of the latest Byredo perfume look familiar, it won’t surprise you to learn that Byredo’s Ben Gorham collaborated with Off-White designer Virgil Abloh to create the Elevator Music capsule collection, including a fragrance, a hair mist and a hand cream with burnt amyris notes lifted by ambrette, bamboo and jasmine. Strong, graceful and perfect paired with Off-White denim or a t-shirt.

The scent: burnt amyris notes make up the strong base, with the trio of ambrette, bamboo and jasmine replicating the freshness of cotton.

Available from April.

UNISEX fragrances are the way forward

Usually the first thing we all splurged on us in the morning, after shower or in a store, is our favorite fragrance. Of course there are a ton of fragrances out there that are popular for both men and women. However, we’ve compiled a list of unique, unisex and most importantly one of a kind smells for you to try next time you’re on a hunt for a fragrance.

Maison Margiela –Replica Fragrances

The Replica fragrances come in Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum. There is also the filter fragrances a sort of layering scent and the untitled fragrance.  The basis for all the Replica fragrances is that they replicate a memory essentially, like their scent Flower Market or Beach Walk. I find that most of these smells do evoke a familiar scent however only a few of them truly stand out. Personally my favorite is the Eau de Toilette –by the Fireplace, described as burning wood and chestnut.

This scent has a beautiful depth of woody smell with a slightly sweet top note. Definitely a winter/autumn scent. Another favorite from the replica range is Jazz Club described as heady cocktails and cigars, this is a more citrusy smell than -by the Fireplace but it lacks that sweet note.

Escentric molecules-Molecule fragrances

Originally this line had launched with Molecule 01 the most popular and my favorite of the bunch. The fragrances are based around a single ingredient, which reacts with your natural pheromones giving out a unique “tailored” made scent. Even if I tried I cannot accurately describe this scent, however is a beautiful unisex scent and a decent price point.

Jo Malone- Cologne & Intense

Jo Malone has over 20 scents of beautiful fragrances with botanical, citrus and other accents. I cannot really recommend just one since I think they are peculiar scents and each is special in its own way. Wood sage and sea salt is an easy going woody scent whereas Oud & Bergamont is deep, citrusy and more pronounced. When it comes to Jo Malone, definitely visit a counter and pick a scent that is personal to you.
