Bottega Veneta Pre Spring 2023

Matthieu Blazy unveiled his menswear collection for Bottega Veneta Pre Spring 2023.

'' The One My Soul Loves'' from Israel opens Nicosia International Festival

Itai Segal’s latest play is based on the terrorist attack at the Bar Noar (LGBT Centre) in August 2009 in Tel Aviv. Ami Rahav (starring also in Netflix’s Unorthodox) stars as Jonathan, the gay son of an everyday loving family. A family, however, with secrets and wounds from the past, anxieties and destructive prejudices. After the savage shooting, Jonathan lies unconscious in hospital, and no one can explain to his mother what her only son was doing in a gay bar. And so begins a family drama at the centre of which is a religious 17-year-old boy, who soon finds himself forced by his family to undergo conversion therapy.

A ten-member cast will bring the harrowing story to life in Nicosia, performing in Hebrew with subtitles in Greek and English. Supported by the Embassy of Israel, the performance will take place for one night only, starting at 8.30pm and lasting for a chilling 90 minutes.

Israel’s performance is one of the many acts that are part of the Nicosia International Festival’s programme this year and throughout November and December numerous music, dance and theatre performances will add colour to the capital.

Martijn

A REY exclusive Portrait Story, Produced & Photographed by Armando Branco.

Introducing Martijn from FIC Model Management

EDWARD STERGIOU x REY

We have first met him at Greece’s Next Top Model and we have been fans since day one!

He was so kind, focus on his mission and definitely one of the most handsome male models of the fashion TV show. He made it to the TOP 10 and he proved he can do much more outside the house of GNTM.

Edward Stergiou is one of the most popular male models in Greece today and he is officially the male ambassador of YSL Beauty in Greece.

When did you start modelling?

Everything started when I decided to put an end to my evolving football career and turn into something that was very intriguing and suspenseful for me at the time. I was 19 when I started thinking about the possibility of a new career in this exciting industry and all of a sudden I started to put all my efforts on that sector.

People loved you during Greece’s Next Top Model. You became one of their favourites, and us too. How was it after you left the fashion reality show though?

TV has the power to make success something that has being counted on followers or how much money you are making. Nevertheless, the love of the people is one the greatest gifts it can offer to you. What matters the most though, is how you will handle this popularity after the show and how picky you will manage to be since the job proposals will be defiantly too many.

Has the show helped you to develop more on your profile as a model?

The show helped me get a better connection with the Greek market which resulted in a great variety of jobs that followed. Greek fashion is quite limited and specific and I knew that before getting into the show, but I’m still grateful for the collaborations I have chosen to do so far.

Which moment from GNTM you will never forget..?

The show as a whole experience was a very special moment of my life, it is impossible to pick just one moment.

Are you going to watch Greece’s Next Top Model this season?

The hype around the show this year is very big, I would not want to miss it!

Now tell us a fashion moment you are proud of:

I’m really proud for what I have managed to accomplish in this industry big or small. From the Dolce & Gabbana show to some of great Instagram jobs I have done so far. I feel proud for the people I meet daily through this job. Getting rewarded for your hard work is life’s best present. ‘Hard or easy’, you always learn something.

Have you always wanted to be a model? Do you have any other male model as an inspiration?

From a very young age a had an interest in fashion. I was taking care of my self maybe more than other kids at that time. So I think it was always something inside me about being a model. I admire quite a few successful male models one of them is David Gandy.

Which job is your favourite so far?

YSL Beauty has chosen me to be theirs campaign ambassador for the 2022 cosmetics. The campaign and the message this campaign gave to the world are definitely what I love so far.

Any future plans you can share with us?

For sure there is always something cooking but allow me to reveal it when it’s done.

Are you in love this period?

I’m always in love with my job.

What is the song you are always listening to these days?

FACES by Seigar

Seigar is a passionate travel, street, social-documentary, conceptual, and pop visual artist based in Tenerife, Spain. His latest project ‘FACES’ explores the different faces we see in people depending on the situations the live.

The artist notes:

This conceptual portrait series was inspired by the lyrics of the song Mercury by Steve Lacy: "You think I'm two-faced, I can name twenty-three / My layers, all these sides". This work represents a metaphor for personality traits conveyed through my longest and still ongoing project My Plastic People. It shows the complexities of human beings.

I think personalities should be valued, and encouraged to blossom. We should embrace our personalities so differences can enrich us all. It is the perfect time in history to let our inner selves and souls speak loud and act freely, not repress ourselves! It is a matter of empowerment.

The content is also connected to my interest in identity, everything that defines us. The aesthetics I've chosen are once more pop, this movement is my main influence to create. Faces deals with the idea that the intricacies of our personalities should not be considered negative, in fact, being genuine is the engine we need today out there, far from the crowd thinking. I see personalities as the possible gates to individual freedoms. Just be real!

Edward Crutchley SS23 at London Fashion Week

We have seen him working with Kim Jones for many years, at Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and now Fendi couture. Edward Crutchley is probably one of the luxury fashion industry’s leading experts in fabric sourcing and development.

For his Spring Summer 2023 collection, he took inspiration from the greek mythology and the ancient Greek sea-god Proteus. “Even though it’s about ancient Greek mythology, there are no references. We’re not seeing a toga coming down the runway,” he stated.

The signs are strong though, and his promotional images were given the right message. The Greek Marbles and Sculptures will return to Greece!

Edward has also collaborated with ROKER shoes for that show and WE LOVE the extra edginess they add to his looks.

UNDERCOVER x EASTPAK

Eastpak presents its collaboration with Undercover, the Japanese firm founded in 1990 by Jun Takahasi. With a very personal style and influences from British grunge, American punk and the passage of time, Takahasi has managed to carve out a significant niche for himself in the industry.

A clear example is his new collaboration with Eastpak, which is now available on the Eastpak website and in selected stores, made up of 3 models that combine utility with haute couture. They are made of recycled materials and all follow the motto “Chaos / Balance” in a fashion exercise that blurs and offsets the limits of streetwear and the highest design.
